I was with some french friends for a gift exchange on Sunday. We were talking about everything that has been going on since we all got together last and what had caught our interest recently. CB is a dancer, a really talented dancer and she showed us this clip and I just had to pass it along. I'm sure for those on the other side of the Atlantic this is nothing new but I figure it can't hurt. I could watch it on repeat, it makes me so happy.
She brought this up because they are going to do the same flash mob dance in Annecy this Saturday at Courrier. I hope I can make it. What is it about choreographed dancing in public places that makes a person smile all the way down to their bones? I guess it's the fantasy that we, or this could just be me, all want a soundtrack in our lives and people breaking into song and dance. Flash mobs are such a wonderful thing to come from the interwebz. I also think this song couldn't be more perfect for thousands of people dancing together. Anyway, I just couldn't resist posting this clip. Hope it made you smile a little, or you know, all the way down to your bones.

tap, tap, tap...is this thing on??
Hello, it's me. I'm back from my brief hiatus. Things are going well. Life is rolling along. New big changes are on their way. I got a job. in Annecy. in export. doing what I do now. but bigger and better. and 100% not from a home office. It means a lot of changes but I feel ready and happy and excited! The timing is impeccable. I'm really excited. Did I mention that? So excited.I feel like the part of me that got shut down by working from home and being pretty isolated from social contact is coming back. It's freeing. Other than having a pretty impossible time keeping concentrated on finishing up last projects for my work, everything is peachy. The world seems bigger and better with new possibilities.
Indoor volleyball is almost over. Outdoor starts shortly. Things are warming up, the sun is coming out and things are looking up. And it might snow again, it seems like every other morning I wake up to snow fall but at least for me, it feels like spring has finally sprung.

State of Love and Kindness
Molecular biologist at the Pasteur institute now a buddhist monk, that's a nice career path. Matthieu Ricard talks (in english) about happiness ; it's different for everyone. He also includes good insight on chocolate cake. The talk is about 20 minutes long. If you have the time to watch this, I don't think you'll regret it but then again what makes me happy isn't necessarily what makes you happy. Another great reason to listen for the full time, he talks about the MIT study on compassion and how monks are off the charts, more importanly what that translates to physically, the ability to moderate fear and anger, well-being and resistance to sickness.
